Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova

Aide to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan

Since 2015, Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova has served as an Aide to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. In this position, she was responsible for the Public Spaces Development Programme which was aimed at creating a comfortable urban environment as well as redevelopment of parks, squares, embankments and boulevards in Kazan. One of the key projects implemented under the leadership of Natalia Fishman-Bekmambetova was the redevelopment of the Kaban Lake system embankments. In 2019, the project won the International Planning Excellence Award in the category Grand Award for Urban Design/ Kevin Lynch Award.

Natalia also worked as an Advisor to the Head of the Department of Culture of the Government of Moscow, where she worked on the library, museum, and park reform. She was also involved in the launch of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center. In 2010-2011, she coordinated an educational programme at the Strelka Institute of Media, Architecture, and Design.
